River Oaks is great! We reopened in October 2005 after suffering
no damage from Hurricane Katrina. Located in Harahan, a suburb of New
Orleans thirty five minutes from downtown, our neighborhood and
campus were spared wind and flooding. Reopened for over a year "Post-
K" has been challenging, but rewarding, as we successfully treat
patients and help our employees and community heal. |

 |
Yes, it is safe to come to the hospital. The hospital is located
twenty minutes outside of Downtown New Orleans in Harahan. All
services in the area are open. |

 |
Yes, the water is safe to drink. The hospital is located in
Jefferson Parish. Hurricane Katrina did not impact the water
filtration system. |

 |
The hospital was very fortunate. The hospital suffered minimal
wind damage. The damages were repaired before the hospital reopened
on October 3, 2005. |

 |
No, we were very fortunate. The hospital and the area surrounding
did not flood. |

 |
All of the River Oaks staff did not return after Hurricane
Katrina. The majority of the staff have returned back to work.
However, some staff have chosen to relocate to other UHS hospitals
out of state. New staff have been hired and trained to meet the
needs of our patients. The entire staff from the Trauma /
Compulsivity Program is intact. |
